Hands-on Lean Simulation
1 or 1-1/2 days (workshop)
Highly interactive, hands-on
simulations are being used by many organizations to introduce core principles
related to lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
A live simulation will demonstrate the impact of
implementing many Lean techniques. This workshop can be tailored to
simulate the dynamics of any factory. We will introduce your
organization to a variety of tools (depending on your needs) such as:
quality at the source, point of use storage, kanban/pull, cellular flow, lean
accounting, and many others.
Course Description:
This workshop
combines classroom discussion and live simulation with interactive processes
that actually create a product to demonstrate the value of Lean Manufacturing
techniques. In
this hands-on workshop, we present an introduction to Lean Conversion concepts,
methods, and tools while simulating a factory to put these concepts to work for
you. Participants will also learn the 8 types of waste and how to eliminate them
through the Lean “Building Blocks”. We will discuss and implement various tools
such as workplace organization (5S), quick changeover, total productive
maintenance, visual workplace, cellular design, and poka-yoke. This workshop
will help you understand Lean conversion principles and the benefits of Lean.
Upon completion of the session, participants walk away with a clear
understanding of the “Lean Journey” -- its concepts and philosophies (i.e.,
analyzing and improving the flow of information and materials in a manufacturing
environment).
Learning Objectives:
In this workshop participants will learn how to:
-
Redesign office or manufacturing processes;
-
Maximize customer value;
-
Minimize cost and waste;
-
View
manufacturing processes as part of a total “value-stream” system; and
-
Identify waste in the value stream.
Who
Should Attend:
Anyone and everyone that would like to gain an
understanding of Lean Conversion or is ready to partake in a "Lean Journey."
Prerequisites:
None
